Department of O.B.G. Nursing

OVERVIEW:
The Obstetric and Gynaecological department aims at maintaining excellence in the field of nursing education and research contributing the comprehensive care for women and children. The department provides courses related to obstetric and gynecological nursing within the framework of the curriculum plan in college of nursing. Further it aims to expand academic excellence through collaborative research and establishment of transdisciplinary viable network with local, national and international agencies.

Vision
The vision of Obstetric and Gynaecological department is to strive for excellence in education, practice and research related to maternal and child health nursing.

Mission
The mission of the Obstetric and Gynaecological department is to provide quality nursing education to prepare professionals towards optimizing health of women and children in an ever changing health care environment .The faculty is also committed to nursing sciences through research activities that enhance quality of services and overall development of students in par with national and international standards.

Philosophy
The Philosophy of the faculty of department of Obstetric and gynecological reflects values and beliefs of college of nursing regarding human being , health, society, nursing, nursing education,learning and curriculum with in the framework  of maternal and child health nursing care. 
The faculty members recognize critical thinking, effective communication, and application of evidence based nursing intervention which is vital for planning, implementation and evaluation of integrated care for women and children.

The faculty aims to prepare nursing professionals by promoting health, preventing illness disability and ultimately achieving high wellness of motherhood and child-hood maturational phases of life span throughout.

The faculty realizes its commitment and prepares nurses to assume challenging role in providing participatory maternal and child health care incorporating the emerging health care needs across health care settings.

OBJECTIVES.
The objectives of Obstetric and Gynaecological department are to:
1.Prepare graduates to provide family centered comprehensive care to women and children.
2. Ensure excellent academic performance and overall development of students in both clinical and theory course towards caring mother and children.
3.Procure and monitor utilization of resources, for effective functioning of department.
4.Participate actively towards promotion of independent and collaborative research.
5.Facilitate professional growth of faculty.
6.Provide a board range of nursing process to enable independent midwifery nursing practitioners to practice under varying conditions.
7.Create a body of nurse education with demonstration skill in teaching through the use of various modern education method and technology.
8.Monitor continuous quality improvement of all functional areas of the department as a whole.
